In 2016, I decided to place an advert in my local newspaper in Nottingham, UK, inviting 10-12 people to join myself and my kids on Christmas day, and to my surprise, the offer was taken by over one hundred people and this led me to hire two community centres, where I was joined by awesome volunteers to serve our guests and to deliver free meals on Christmas day.
This service has now become our household initiative, and I am happy to announce that this year, we will be cooking for those over the age of 60 that are going to be alone and isolated on Christmas day.
Only care agencies, s clinician, social prescribers, social workers or registered charities can refer someone for this service. Also, anyone over the age of 60 can also self refer.
