Alone

Alone

To be alone is to be without others. To be alone is to face life without anyone else.

service 1

Being alone physically is what many people want, especially in a world we are living in today, nevertheless, many would be happier if they have someone to check up on them, send them a birthday card or christmas card or even pop round for a cup of tea.

These little gestures many of us take for granted are the things that are being craved for by others.

Moving to Nottingham, a city where I have no family felt like a great idea at the time many years ago. I needed to escape from London’s hustle and bustle but found myself with two young kids alone and isolated from everything I knew and grew up with. Over time, I noticed the reduction in regular calls from friends, family and associates, and within one year, it all went dead, and I had to rely on greetings and contacts via social media. In 2018, I decided to remove the birthday reminder that Facebook sent to friends to remind them to wish someone a happy birthday, and this showed me the true meaning of the saying “out of sight is out of mind”.

This woke up a new fight in me and I decided to start to celebrate those who are in my community on their birthday.

The purpose of this project in 2026 is to continue to create a community that cares and reach out to other people who are alone beyond Nottingham, UK.

Being alone is not cute for many, however, not all those who are alone want to be alone, but are alone due to circumstances that’s beyond their control.
